Chris Ramsey has revealed he was once left startled after a drunken intruder burst into his hotel room in the middle of the night.

The South Shields comedian and award-winning podcast star appeared as a guest on Wednesday's Lorraine to talk about his latest role as host of The Search live shows.

Last weekend millions of viewers saw Chris make his debut as presenter on the BBC series as Little Mix, featuring fellow Sanddancers Jade Thirlwall and Perrie Edwards, look for an act to support them on their Confetti tour next year.

Chris revealed to Lorraine Kelly that he gets tested at his home before travelling down to London to the BBC studios to front the show and it was then that he divulged an unnerving experience that happened before he appeared on her programme for the first time.

Appearing via video call from his South Tyneside home, Chris recalled: "If you remember the first time I came on your show I had to stay in a hotel right near the studio the night before and some drunk guy came into the wrong room and came into me room while I was asleep.

"That doesn't happen in my house which is cool!"

Laughing, Lorraine responded: "You don't want that to happen, you really don't!"

Chris and wife Rosie, who have just released their own book, are expecting their second child together due in January and he said that son Robin, who has just turned 5, was massively excited about the new arrival and will be "an awesome big brother."

He told Lorraine: "He is so excited. He can't get his head around why you we don't know what it is yet but he keeps talking about it.

"You know what, he's got so much love to give and he's such a lovely little boy.

"He's very, very excited; he's going to be an awesome big brother."
