A CHINESE takeaway has been found to be in major need for improvements in hygiene following a recent report.
The Silver Mountain on Highgate in Kendal was rated a zero by food hygiene inspectors.
The inspection of the premises took place on February 12 of this year.
The shop is currently closed in accordance with the government order during the Coronavirus and is expected to reopen as soon as possible.
Whilst receiving a poor review in this latest hygiene inspection, the business does currently hold a four out of five star rating on Trip Advisor.
One reviewer described the business as ‘the best in Kendal’.
Reviewer Drew, from Kendal, said: “We always use Silver Mountain in Kendal as it is excellent quality and the orders are always as we have ordered. We use them for party’s at home and also order for the lads at work when we are working night shift and everything is without complaint. Always receive free prawn crackers, spring rolls etc on large orders too, which is a nice touch."
Another reviewer, Caroline, Preston, said: “Everything was really tasty and there was enough food for us to reheat for another two meals.
“Highly recommended, but be warned that their phone is incredibly busy and it took us ages to get through to place the order. Absolutely yummy!”
Reviewer Elaine, from Kendal, said: “We are new converts to this takeaway and haven’t been disappointed. The staff are polite and friendly, the food is excellent and good value for money, with a large menu”.
Despite receiving high praise from its customers the food hygiene report said there was ‘major improvement necessary’ in areas of food handling, preparation, cooking, cooling and storage; cleanliness and condition of facilities, including having appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control, and building and management of food safety. This includes making sure systems are in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat, evidence that staff know about food safety,
