Liverpool are back in Premier League action this afternoon as they take on Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

The Premier League champions will be hoping to build on their opening weekend victory over Leeds United.

All eyes will be on the squad and team news after Thiago Alcantara was officially confirmed as a Red on Friday.

Jurgen Klopp did not rule out the new recruit playing a part in the action, which kicks off at 4.30pm live on Sky Sports.

Antonio Rudiger has been left out of the Chelsea squad for today’s visit of Liverpool in a move that could raise question marks over his future.

Germany international Rudiger was an unused substitute for Chelsea’s opening Premier League victory over Brighton.

But Telegraph Sport understands that Rudiger will not even be on the bench for this afternoon’s game against the Premier League champions at Stamford Bridge.

It could be Thiago vs Thiago if Silva and Alcantara are involved!

Debut?

One question for today though: could Thiago make his debut for Liverpool?

The simple answer is 'yes' - because he is certainly eligible.

There are suggestions he has travelled with the squad, backed up by this image circulating on social media:

Whether that means he will be named in the starting eleven or even on the bench is another matter.
