TREVOH CHALOBAH is 'close' to signing a new long-term Chelsea contract, according to reports.
The defender, 22, has enjoyed a fine breakthrough season at Stamford Bridge.
He was given the nod in pre-season and the Super Cup and since then has become a regular in the starting XI.
And according to Football London, the Blues want to reward him with an improved deal.
The report states Chalobah is on course to put pen to paper with talks already going on for a while.
His current deal expires in 2023 and therefore Chelsea will be keen to get the agreement in place as soon as possible.
Chalobah joined the club's academy aged eight and has progressed through the ranks, gaining experience at Ipswich, Huddersfield and FC Lorient.
He scored his first Premier League goal on the opening day of this season - a fine strike against Crystal Palace - and added a second against Southampton.

At the other end, his performances alongside icon Thiago Silva and mentor Antonio Rudiger have earned rave reviews.
In fact, Chelsea have not conceded from open play in the league this season when Chalobah, younger brother of Nathaniel, has been on the pitch.
Speaking in August, Tuchel explained why the England youth international was not being loaned out again, despite interest in him.
The German said: "I think he did a fantastic pre-season with us and he’s a very good player and even more importantly a top character.
"He has both feet on the ground and he took his chance very impressively.
"He played very, very good matches in pre-season, he performed 120 minutes against Villarreal and another strong 90 minutes against Crystal Palace.
"So I think it’s very logical that he stays with us and is looking for his chance here. We let some players go and Trevoh is the guy we absolutely want to keep and this is the status for him."
