Reality TV star Charlotte Dawson has revealed she's been forced to to "clean up" her diet after her doctor warned her she's on the verge of developing Type 2 diabetes.
The mother-of-one posted an 18-minute-long video on her Instagram in which she opened up about struggling with gestational diabetes while pregnant with her son Noah.
Charlotte went on to explain her mother Tracy, 70, has been diagnosed with the chronic disease and warned her daughter to get herself check out after she gave birth.
The 28-year-old TV personality revealed her late dad Les Dawson had been diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes prior to his death, and she fought back tears while talking about her parents.
Charlotte admitted she believed that gestational diabetes - a condition resulting from high blood sugar that develops during pregnancy and which usually disappears after giving birth - would simply naturally fade away.
However, the Love Squad presenter revealed she had started to feel "funny" last week and she had continued to feel "weird" following the birth of Noah, whom she had with her husband, Matthew Sarsfield.
"I went to the doctors and basically been warned," Charlotte said.
The Ex on the Beach star took a break from delivering the heavy news as she brought her baby son on camera, who seemed to give Charlotte the encouragement she needed to continue her video.
She went on to explain that getting gestational pregnancy made her "whole world collapse".
Charlotte explained: "When I had gestational diabetes it was very difficult. I thought: 'This is amazing for me, I can just eat what I want'.
"It’s hard when you're pregnant because I don’t crave vegetables, I crave chocolate and things like that."
Charlotte revealed she thought she simply had "pregnancy diabetes" and that she would “never get diabetes” after giving birth.
As she brought Noah on camera, she said: "If you've got gestational diabetes and you're struggling, just look at the outcome."
The TV star's father passed away in 1993 when Charlotte was just a baby.
Fearing for Noah’s future, Charlotte revealed she would try her best to remain healthy by overhauling her diet.
“Now I have to completely change my diet again," she explained.
She added: "If I don’t clean my diet I'm gonna be on insulin.... I’ve got to be here now for my family."
In the heartbreaking post, the 28-year-old mum wrote a lengthy caption sharing further details about her situation.
She warned her followers: "This is quite serious as I didn’t really think I’d have this problem... but if you also had gestational diabetes while you were pregnant this is something you have to check after!!”
Charlotte went on to reassure her fans that her doctor is "keeping a close eye"on her and will continue to check whether she would need to go on insulin or not.
