Celtic may have missed out on 10 In A Row but finishing second in Scotland no longer removes a potential seat at Europe's top table.

A marked improvement in the nation's country coefficient places two Premiership sides in Champions League qualifying once again.

Rangers have wrapped up the title and will be handed the shorter path to the group stages but Celtic will also get a crack at it.

It's a mixed bag on the qualifying front, it must be said.

Celtic will start in the second round of qualifying and therefore avoid those early bird ties in June and early July.

However, the second round is set to coincide with the beginning of the Premiership season, ensuring the start of the campaign will be as frantic as ever at Parkhead.

Also, having lost their Premiership crown they will no longer enter through the Champions Path, which helps keep the draw more favourable for longer.

As champions, it's Rangers who will take over that route and means Celtic could square off against some big hitters in order to make it to the group stage.

Due to last season's pandemic-delayed end to the tournament, 2020/21 qualifiers were staged as one-off matches.

However, proceedings will return to the traditional two-legged format this summer.
