Tiger King star Rick Kirkham has claimed that animal rights activist Carole Baskin is "as bad" as Joe Exotic, the difference being that she hasn't been caught.
The 61-year-old TV producer went to Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park to film a reality show about the life of Joe Exotic but soon found there was a bitter rivalry with Big Cat Rescue owner Carole Baskin.
She has alleged that Joe only wanted tigers for financial benefit and accused him of various animal cruelty offences.
For his part, Joe has pointed the finger at Carole over the disappearance of her millionaire first husband, Don Lewis, claiming that she murdered him.
Carole has always denied any claims and Joe is now serving 22 years in prison after plotting to have her murdered.
Speaking to Mirror Online, Rick told us that Carole was operating "in a similar fashion" to Joe with the only difference being that she had not been caught breaking the law.
Rick said: " Carole Baskin and Joe Exotic are two peas in a pod, they are very much alike, they both do the same thing, they make money off putting animals in cages."
Explaining Joe's hatred of Carole, Rick said: "They were rivals and that’s why he wanted her gone because he owed her a million dollars and he had no way to pay it but they are one of the same.
"She does the same thing that Joe does, she just tries to do it with a smile on her face and tries not to break the law.
"She’s as bad as he is and that is just the way it is."
Rick said that while Joe has been portrayed as an 'extreme' character, there was much of what Carole does that puts her in the same category.
He continued: "Carole is just as extreme and dresses exotically and lives in this character.
"She operates in a similar fashion to Joe but she just hasn’t been caught yet… but you never know."
Moving onto the mystery disappearance of her first husband, Rick said: "I had a chance to talk to her about Don and his disappearance and that’s a very interesting conversation."
He has vowed that he will spill the beans on Don's fate and what Netflix didn't show in a live Q&A session on Saturday, April 11 at 7pm.
