Carlo Ancelotti is confident he will manage the expectations around Anthony Gordon after a breakthrough performance this week.

The 19-year-old was handed a second Premier League start of his fledgling career in midweek against Leicester City and provided the assist for Richarlison to open the scoring.

Gordon delivered his most confident display at senior level and played almost 80 minutes of the 2-1 win.

Ancelotti handed the Academy graduate his Premier League debut in January and has since rewarded the teenager with two league starts since the re-start.

Excitement is building around Gordon but the Blues boss believes he will manage the buzz the talented attacker is generating.

“I understand the expectations on him and I gave him the possibility to play and also give him the possibility to go on the bench," Ancelotti said.

"I try to give him the possibility that he deserves.

“He really understands the position he is in now. He is an important player, he has to improve and work hard.
