Dramatic twist in Cody Drameh's Leeds United future
Cardiff's chances of re-signing Cody Drameh might have been boosted after a dramatic twist in Leeds United's fortunes on the final day of the season.
Heading into the final day of the Premier League season on Sunday, Leeds were favourites to drop back down into the Championship, with Burnley tipped to avoid the drop.
However, thanks to Leeds' 2-1 win over Brentford and Burnley losing 2-1 to Newcastle, it saw Jesse Marsch's side leapfrog the Clarets in dramatic fashion to secure top-flight status for another year. While there will be euphoria and elation up at Elland Road, the result will likely impact the future of former Bluebirds loanee Drameh, who won the Player of the Year award and Young Player of the Year gong at Cardiff's end-of-season ceremony.

And Leeds correspondent Beren Cross believes Leeds staying up might mean Drameh is once again moved out on loan. Regarding the defender’s future, Cross said in a Q&A on our sister title, Leeds Live, this weekend: “Drameh’s deal also expires in 2024. In the second tier, I would back him to stay and duke it out with [Luke] Ayling for starts, but in the Premier League he may not quite be ready for the quantity of minutes he is looking for.
“His recent comments would suggest he wants another loan if he’s not getting the lion’s share of starts. Surely Leeds would only consider a sale of such an asset with a decent fee and plenty of add-ons.”
We know Cardiff and Steve Morison are huge admirers of Drameh, who was a revelation at right wing-back in the back half of the campaign. City certainly want him back, but were perhaps resigned to the fact he would tear it up with Leeds in the Championship next term.
With Leeds now in the Premier League for another year, it casts more doubt over Drameh's immediate future.
After Cardiff fans had chanted, "Cody Drameh, we want you to stay!" during the final game of the season against Derby County, Morison said following the match: "Trust me, I have asked him to stay!"
He added: "Cody, I love the kid," he added. "He said to me as we were walking off, 'Thanks for keeping your word'. I was like, 'I said you'd play, where you would play and how you would play'. He said ever since the presentation he knew he wanted to be a part of it.
"I said to him, 'Go on now and reach where you need to reach, because you're on the way now'. I am really, really pleased for him."
Right-back is certainly an area in which Morison will be looking to strengthen, with Perry Ng the only recognised senior option there - and he has been converted into a centre-back towards the back end of last season. Jai Semenyo will likely head out on loan.
Wallace wanted by West Brom
Cardiff City-linked winger Jed Wallace is reportedly wanted by Steve Bruce at West Brom this summer.
Last month the Bluebirds were linked with the 27-year-old wide man, who is out of contract at The Den in June. Morison and Wallace are close friends owing to their time together at Millwall.
Morison, who has already welcomed four new signings, has spoken frequently about the fact that he and his recruitment team will have to sell the vision and the project of Cardiff City this summer, rather than offer bundles of cash to attract players to the Welsh capital. And while he would never turn down the chance to sign one of the Championship's top operators, who has six goals and 11 assists to his name this term, he accepts that it would be a stretch to land him in the transfer window.
"I would sign Jed Wallace in a heartbeat!" Morison said last month. "But I’m sure Millwall don’t want to let him go. They will do everything they can to keep him. If he does leave as a free transfer in the summer, he is 27, top of the assists, Millwall’s best player - since I’ve left! I’m joking, well I’m not and he knows it.
"There won’t be a team in the Championship or, I presume, the lower end of the Premier League, who won’t want to take him. There will always be an offer on the table for Jed, it will just be a lot less than what he’d be offered elsewhere!
"It’s not a conversation we’ve had. We have many a conversation every now and then when he wants advice or a chat, but we haven’t spoken about him coming to Cardiff unfortunately."
Now, though, it looks as though West Brom could be leading the race, with the Sun claiming that the Baggies have offered him a "lucrative package". However it is also claimed that Wallace's camp are working on a potential move to a club elsewhere in Europe.

Flint wanted by Derby County
Derby County boss Wayne Rooney wants Aden Flint to lead the club's planned for charge back into the Championship next season.
The veteran centre-half is on the lookout for a new club after announcing he is leaving Cardiff City following a three-year spell in the Welsh capital. Flint is among a glut of out of contract senior stars likely to leave in the coming days as Steve Morison undergoes a radical overhaul of the squad.
Flint is from the Derbyshire area and a return to his roots might appeal, particularly as Rooney plans to make him a kingpin of his team in League One as they seek an instant return to Championship football.
Flint, of course, would arrive on a free transfer, but he was believed to be on a bumper wage with the Bluebirds after being signed from Middlesbrough. He made 93 appearances for City over the course of a three-year stint. Read the full story here.
