One of Liverpool’s most popular streets is due to welcome a new bubble tea venue this summer.

Gong cha, a well-known bubble tea brand, is set to open this month on Bold Street , offering more than 40 drinks featuring a range of textures and layers such as pearls, fruit jellies and milk foam.

The venue is opening at 13 Bold Street later this month and will be celebrating its launch by giving away free drinks to the first 100 customers, with a further free drink with each purchase made throughout opening weekend.

Justin Liew, head of Gong cha England, said: “The bubble tea trend has gripped Asia, Oceania and the US, where it is considered a Taiwanese speciality.

“We are confident the people of Liverpool will love it once they’ve tried it.

“Bold Street is a meeting place for people who like to try new things and pick up on trends and we are locating our store at its heart to offer the refreshing bubble tea range to those who are curious to sample a completely fresh taste sensation.”

Gong cha will be serving up a range of bubble teas, including ‘dirtea’, a dessert-like drink combining its signature milk foam, fresh milk, brown sugar pearls and topped off with Oreo crumbs.

Other flavours will include ‘Strawberry Milk Green Tea’, ‘Mango Matcha’ and ‘Lemon Juice with Ai-Yu Jelly & White Pearl’.

When Gong cha opens, it will operate from Monday to Sunday, 12pm - 8pm.
