Many Manchester United players commented on how quickly Bruno Fernandes established himself within Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad after his January arrival.

That was borne out on the pitch too, with Fernandes having an instant impact on United's fortunes after the Old Trafford club sealed a £47million transfer from Sporting Lisbon. The Portuguese playmaker struck up an instant rapport with Anthony Martial, among others, scoring three goals and adding four assists in his nine United appearances before the Premier League was shut down.

Yet as United gear up for a return, Fernandes is clearly reprising his role as the joker in the pack.

And that now extends to midfield teammate Nemanja Matic, too, with Fernandes taking to Instagram to tease the former Chelsea midfielder.

Posting a picture from training that saw the United players maintaining a social distance, Fernandes wrote: "Nemanja Matic is always a distance between the winning team and your team."

The post clearly went down well among the thousands of United fans who 'liked it' - though it remains to be seen whether Matic will respond.

Earlier this month, ex-Benfica star Matic explained the impact Fernandes had made at United.

He said: "Because I follow the Portuguese league, I knew [Fernandes] was good – even though he played for Sporting!

"But I’m very surprised he adapted so quickly to the Premier League. He brings us a lot of qualities, like the confidence he has on the pitch – he always knows what he wants to do with the ball."
