Chelsea's Ethan Ampadu has finally made an impact at RB Leipzig on the biggest stage of all.

The Wales star was thrust into the German side's starting XI in the Champions League knockout match against Tottenham despite his lack of game time since his summer loan move from Stamford Bridge.

And his performance at centre back has had Wales and Chelsea fans purring.

Ampadu touched the ball more and completed more accurate passes than any other player on the pitch during the opening 45 minutes.

He also recoded an impressive passing accuracy of 96%.

It's been a strange time for Ampadu at the rising German club before tonight.

He had to wait until the end of October before finally being handed his debut, and last featured for the Bundesliga outfit on December 10 until he came on as a second half substitute in his side's 3-0 win over Werder Bremen on Saturday.

The Chelsea loanee has featured just six times in all competitions for Julian Nagelsmann's side this term and has failed to play the full 90 minutes in any of those outings.

But that could all be about to change on this evidence.

Here's what people have been saying.
