Bridgerton fans have finally been treated to a glimpse at the highly-anticipated second season of the hit Netflix show, and it does not disappoint.

TUDUM: A Netflix Global Fan Event took place on September 25 and featured more than 145 of the streaming platform's biggest stars and creators from around the world.

One of those stars was Bridgerton actress Nicola Coughlan, who told fans to 'prepare thyself' for what's to come as the season 2 trailer was unveiled.

In the 76-second clip, Jonathan Bailey's character Anthony Bridgerton is seen engaged in a rather tense conversation with newcomer Simone Ashley, who plays Kate Sharma.

Anthony is seen following her outside and tells her: "I was wondering if we would meet again," before accusing her of eavesdropping.

"It was hardly an effort, seeing as you were proclaiming your many requirements for a wife loud enough for the entire party to hear," Kate replies bluntly.

"You take issue with my requirements?" he asks her.

"I take issue with any man who views women merely as chattels and breeding stock," she adds.

"None of that was meant for you..." he quickly says, as Kate continues: "When you manage to find this paragon of virtue, whatever makes you think she will accept your suit? Are the ladies of London truly so easily won by a pleasing smile and absolutely nothing more?"

"So you find my smile pleasing?" he asks her cheekily.

"I find your opinion of yourself entirely too high. Your character is as sufficient as your horsemanship, I shall bid you goodnight," she replies, as he looks stunned.

No doubt there's more to their conversation than meets the eye as season two is set to focus on Anthony's as he embarks on a journey to find love.

Bridgerton fans were delighted with the teaser and took to Twitter to comment.

"you best believe i'll be binging this the day it comes out #Bridgerton," one person posted.

Another write: "Simone Ashley gave life to Savage and Witty Kate Sharma and we love it! #Bridgerton."

And a third added: "OMG!!! I can’t wait!!! It’s finally happening. Great sneak peak everyone. Thank you #Bridgerton."
