The Championship season is just five weeks away and clubs up and down the country are beginning to return to training.
As the players prepare for their pre-season graft behind the scenes managers and chairman are plotting their moves in the transfer market.
With the window open until October there is plenty of time for deals to get over the line but for teams who want new faces in the building before the new campaign kicks off on September 12, then time is of the essence.
Preston North End and Blackburn Rovers will both want to strengthen their hand ahead of what they hope will be a promotion push in 2020-21.
We round up the latest transfer rumours from the Championship.
Brentford identify Watkins replacement
Football Insider report that Brentford have already identified a potential replacement for Ollie Watkins.
The attacker is one of the hottest properties in the Championship after the Bees lost the play-off final, with a number of Premier League clubs interested in him.
Brentford are said to be plotting a move for Barnsley attacker Jacob Brown as a potential replacement.
The 22-year-old is a versatile forward who can play on either wing or through the middle and played a big part in Barnsley’s unlikely survival.
Middlesbrough target on future
Middlesbrough target Charlie Goode says he is aware of speculation surrounding his future.
The Northampton Town captain has been linked to various clubs after helping his side to promotion to League One through the play-offs.
Whilst Goode says he is aware of the speculation, he is fully focussed on the Cobblers.
He told the Northampton Chronicle: “It's something I'm aware of and I hear everything that goes but at the end of the day I play for Northampton and that won't change until my last day at the club.
“My focus is on the pitch. My focus is as normal and I'm just looking forward to the new season. I've loved every minute I've had at this club.”
Forest rival Panathinaikos for striker
Greek website Sdna claim Nottingham Forest are interested in Levadiakos striker Fotis Ioannidis.
Panathinaikos are said to have been close to reaching an agreement with Levadiakos over the player but Forest are now reportedly in pole position.
Forest are said to be offering better terms for the Greek striker and a decision over his future will be made in the coming days.
He scored five goals in 20 appearances for the Greek second division club this season.
