Rivaldo sends blunt Liverpool transfer message to Raphinha

Brazilian legend Rivaldo has insisted that Leeds United winger Raphinha should sign for Liverpool.

The Reds were linked with the 24-year-old throughout the summer, after he impressed in his debut season for Marcelo Bielsa’s side.

The forward scored six and grabbed nine assists and has continued in a similar vein this term, scoring three times in seven appearances.

Raphinha earned his first cap for Brazil earlier this month, but Rivaldo has said that a move to Liverpool would be a “big step” in his career.

"He has the quality to play for a bigger club. He is playing excellent football and a player always wants more and stronger challenges, so he would benefit from a transfer,” the former Barcelona playmaker told Betfair.

Cristiano Ronaldo admits to Manchester United change ahead of Liverpool clash

Cristiano Ronaldo has responded to criticism about his lack of work-rate ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United.

The 36-year-old has scored six goals since returning to Old Trafford, but a lack of defensive shape has led to the Reds’ bitter rivals conceding seven times in their last two games.

The former Real Madrid forward has admitted that his primary role in Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side is to score goals, not his defensive work.

Ronaldo discussed his change of playing style with Sky Sports, but maintains he is unfazed by the debate surrounding him.

“If they worry about me or they speak about me it’s because they know my potential and my value in football, still.”
