A 12-year-old boy left his beloved puppy at a shelter with a stuffed animal and heartbreaking note describing his father’s abuse.
The boy, who said his name was Andrés in the note, wrote that he left his pit bull puppy at the shelter to protect it from his abusive father in Michaocan, Mexico.
Rescue group Refugio Xollin, shared photos of the puppy and the note on Facebook on February 13.
‘They left us this dog outside the shelter, inside a box, with a note and a stuffed animal,’ Refugio Xollin wrote.
‘The note was written by a boy: where he explained that his father mistreated this puppy and was going to sell it. Will all that burden of despair they left us to be saved.’
According to the group, the note read: ‘My name is Andrés and I am 12 years old. My mom and I decided to leave my dog in your hands, hiding it from my dad because he is thinking about selling him.’
‘But he mistreats and kicks him. One day he kicked him so hard that he hurt his tail. I hope you can help and take care of him.’
‘I left him a stuffed animal so he won’t forget me,’ the boy continued.Woman raped child then abused her when she refused to have sex with strangers
The rescue group said they have since taken the puppy in and they are evaluating it for a possible tail fracture.
They have named the puppy Rene and more than 300 people have requested to adopt him since his story was shared on Facebook.
Xollin said Rene will be given to a good family, but they said they also have 120 other animals hoping to be adopted too.
‘If everyone opened their heart and their home like this little dog, they would have adopted ALL our dogs from the shelter,’ the group wrote.
