The body of a woman was discovered in a Liverpool park this morning.

A large police and emergency services presence was spotted in Springfield Park in West Derby on Friday morning, in response to the finding.

Emergency services were called to at around 6.30 this morning to reports that the body of a woman had been discovered.

Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics.

The death is not thought to be suspicious and officers are currently tracing the woman's next of kin.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson said: "Officers are currently in attendance in Springfield Park in West Derby following reports the body of a woman has been found.

"Emergency services were contacted at just after 6.30am today, Friday 29th May. The woman was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.

"The death is not currently being treated as suspicious and enquiries are ongoing to identify the woman and contact her next of kin."
