Detectives investigating the murder of a 36-year-old man remain at the scene this afternoon.
Clorain Road, in Kirkby, remains cordoned off after a man was killed a home after intruders entered.
Officers were called to the scene at about 10.30pm last night after receiving reports intruders had gone inside of the address.
It was said they left a short time later, and the occupant, a man, 36, was found with a serious head injury.
He was taken to hospital where he died, this morning.
Pictures from the scene this afternoon showed a large police presence as officers continued to guard the address.

A police line and cordon was also seen.
The police presence follows two men, aged 32 and 34, being arrested.
The pair are being quizzed on suspicion of murder as they remain in custody.
Detectives are keen to speak to anyone who may have seen anything of importance or who could have valuable information.
Detective Inspector Jackie Guinness, of Merseyside Police, said: “A man has tragically died following a suspected assault in Kirkby last night and we are working to establish the full circumstances.

“Two men remain in custody in connection with the incident, and I would ask anyone who saw or heard any suspicious behaviour in Clorain Road or the surrounding area last night, or has any CCTV or dash cam footage, to please get in touch. Officers will remain in the area today to carry out CCTV, witness and forensic enquiries.”
