A group of Blackpool teenagers have discovered a weapon buried in the ground in Bispham.
A gun was found yesterday (April 15) and it is reported to have been covered in duct tape and buried with bullets.
One of the teens allegedly called the police and at around 4pm officers arrived at the scene on Parsley Close.
Police have confirmed that they found what is thought to be a revolver-type firearm and that it has been sent off for testing.
A woman whose son witnessed the discovery, said: "My 12-year-old son was out after school on his bike today (April 15) in Bispham and saw some older kids surrounding something on the floor.
"It was a gun covered in duct tape that had been buried with the bullets. Police arrived and confirmed it was a revolver. Scary."
An investigation has been launched to find the owner of the firearm however no arrests have been made as of yet.
Lancashire Police said: "We were called to Parsley Close, Bispham, just before 4pm yesterday (April 15) to reports a firearm had been found by a member of the public.
"Officers have attended and found what is thought to be a revolver-type firearm and ammunition. They have been sent off for testing.
"While an investigation has been launched to identify the owner of the items, no arrests have been made at this stage.
"Anyone with information is asked to call police on 101, quoting log 0964 of April 15, 2021."
