PUBLIC consultation is underway over a Wirral school's plan to ugrade sporting facilities.
Birkenhead School's proposals will see upgrades to the existing sports hall and a new sports hall including multi-purpose rooms for fitness activities, meetings and events.
A spokesperson said: "the improved facilities will help satisfy the growing range of fitness activities available to both girls and boys, outside of the more traditional team sports.
"The expanded and improved sports facilities will bring benefits to the Birkenhead School's students and to those living in Birkenhead and Wirral too."
The current sports hall is regularly used by local sports groups and community organisations.
The new sports provisions will allow for such groups to access further facilities.

"We continue to grow as a School, and are passionate about the opportunities these new facilities will provide for our students and the local community.
"At a time of great challenge and uncertainty for us all, it is important for us to lead positive change within our community, and the coming years will see further initiatives that broaden opportunities to pupils across the Wirral.
"We are grateful to those that find the time to engage with the virtual consultation and share their views on the proposals with us as we look to submit a planning application to Wirral Council in the coming weeks."
