The Celebrity MasterChef judges are delighted with new measures introduced for the pandemic - because they finally get their own plates of food.

During filming this February in the middle of lockdown, John Torode was no longer allowed to share a dish with Gregg Wallace while tasting the celebs’ grub, which delighted Gregg.

“No more plate-sharing was just brilliant,” he enthuses. “MasterChef is now as mainstream as the shipping forecast on Radio 4, but all I care about is having my own plate of food.”

This series sees the judges tick off “incredibly messy” Bez from the Happy Mondays for getting his work station in a terrible state, which works out well for Su Pollard who had a culinary disaster when she overspiced her dish.

“The judges’ heads must have blown off,” she says. “Although to be honest they were distracted by telling Bez off about his messy work station.”

Other measures meant the contestants were not allowed to socialise after the show, but Strictly pro Johannes Radebe still managed to teach Love Islander Kem Cetinay how to dance.

Johannes tells Radio Times (MUST): “Kem kept saying, ‘I want to know how to shake my hips like that!’

“He found it very sexy. It’s so lovely for men to know how to move properly on the dancefloor.”

The celebrity series will last for six weeks when it airs on BBC One, including four weeks of heats before the semi-finals and finals.
