Best supermarket Christmas desserts including tiramichoux and a passionfruit sleigh – and prices start from £4.50

CHRISTMAS is coming and for those looking to indulge we've rounded up some of our favourite desserts being launched this year.

Top picks includes a tiramichoux pudding and a passionfruit cheesecake sleigh and prices start from £4.50.

Most of these desserts are only available in store but if you spot one that is available online, just remember to factor in delivery costs, plus minimum spends.

To help you out, we've rounded up when to book Christmas delivery slots.

Also remember to compare prices across supermarkets as buying a similar product that's not linked to the festive season is likely to be much cheaper.

Below, we take a look at the sweet treats Aldi, Asda, Lidl, Morrisons, Sainbury's, and Tesco have on their menus for 2020.

How to cut the cost of your grocery shop

MONEY.CO.UK has shared some top tips with us to help you keep your supermarket spend down to a minimum.

Sainsbury's - Taste the Difference Tiramichoux

This is my top pick for festive feasts this year as it combines two of my favourite desserts - tiramisu and profiteroles.

The base of the dessert has a coffee-soaked sponge, Marsala wine and mascarpone mousse, and pockets of Belgian chocolate

This is topped with cream filled profiteroles, Belgian chocolate sauce and dark chocolate shavings.

If that's not a party in your mouth I don't know what is. Of course, if you don't want the mash-up you could get both desserts for less separately.

Morrisons has the cheapest profiteroles we could find with 16 (235g) for 99p, while Sainsbury's has the cheapest sharing tiramisu at £2 (500g).

Alternatively, Morrisons has a cheaper £9 cherry profiterole bowl (700g) for Christmas with layers of chocolate mousse and cherry compote topped with profiteroles. It's also designed to serve eight.

See our Sainsbury's round-up for more on its Christmas range.

Lidl Melting Chocolate Cottage

You may be used to a traditional gingerbread house adorning your table at Christmas but this unconventional cottage is designed to be a talking point.

That's because it comes with chocolate sauce, which can be poured into the chimney melting the inside of the chocolate cottage.

When you do this, the hot sauce combines with the cottage's layers of Belgian white chocolate mousse, salted caramel sauce, white chocolate snowballs and chocolate cookie base.

Lidl sold the same treat last year when it also cost £6.99.

Asda is also planning to selling a chocolate Christmas cottage dessert. Its version is vegan and is filled with cherry compote and chocolate mousse with a tiffin base made of biscuits, chopped dates, raisins and chocolate.

The supermarket hasn't revealed the price of its cottage yet though.

Tesco Finest Passionfruit Sleigh

I appreciate not everyone wants their Christmas puds dripping in chocolate and caramel so this baked orange cheesecake and vanilla sponge glazed with passionfruit is a good alternative.

It's decorated with passionfruit mousse, gold sponge cubes, chocolate triangles, white chocolate snowballs, and a duo of chocolate reindeers.

A guaranteed showstopper. We couldn't find a similar sleigh themed cheesecake being sold elsewhere but that's not to say another won't launch in the run-up to Christmas.

See our round-up for more on Tesco's Christmas 2020 range.

Morrisons The Best Christmas Star Panna Cotta With Raspberry Sauce

Morrisons' vanilla panna cotta is designed to be the star of your meal.

The star-shaped panna cotta is filled with a raspberry and Prosecco compote and finished with a sprinkling of gold sugar.

We couldn't find a similar panna cotta being sold elsewhere but that's not to say another won't launch in the run-up to Christmas.

Aldi Specially Selected Arctic Roulade

This roulade appears to be a take on the classic 80's crowd-pleaser Black Forest Gateaux, so we reckon it'll be a firm hit among older family members.

The slow baked meringue roll is filled with a cherry mousse, compote and whole cherries, with a drizzle of dark chocolate sauce and pieces on top.

Just bear in mind it contains 230 calories per serving. An adult man should have 2,500 calories a day, while it's 2,000 for a woman, according to NHS guidelines.

If you're not sold on cherries you can get a raspberry and white chocolate roulade (454g) for £4 at Asda, while Sainsbury's sells a berry roulade (450g) also for £4.

Asda Bruce The Brussel Sprout Cake

This isn't so much a dessert but we think kids will love this cheeky cake and it may even inspire them to eat those dreaded Brussels sprouts with their roast too.

The cake itself is a chocolate sponge with a chocolate frosting topped with icing. We bet you can't resist a slice either.

We couldn't find any other retailers selling this vegetable-inspired design but similar cakes at Asda cost around this £10 price mark too.

Here's what else Asda has on its Christmas menu this year.
