Good Morning Britain co-host Ben Shephard didn't mince his words this morning as he savaged comedian Jason Manford over his role on The Masked Singer.

Jason was revealed on the show to be the man behind the Hedgehog character - after denying to Ben on GMB that he had any involvement.

As a guest on this morning's show via video call, Ben confronted Jason over his fibs.

Jason wore a hoodie that read "Don't Talk To Me", prompting co-host Susanna Reid to ask: "Are we supposed to take the message on your shirt seriously? This interview's going to be tricky if we do."

Ben accused Jason of lying to the nation

Jason laughed: "This is the hoodie I got for The Masked Singer, and I've got to say it's very useful during this time of social distancing."

Ben chimed in: "Quite frankly, I'm upset with you, Jason.

"You flat out lied to me, and the nation. In fact, Jason Manford lies to children.

"When you came on the show last time, you denied being Hedgehog to my face!"

Jason defended himself by insisting that he'd used clever wordplay to trick Ben.

"If you look back on that interview," he said, "I was very careful with my answer. I said, 'I would hate to say I am not Hedgehog."

Despite the lockdown amid coronavirus, Jason's been hard at work alongside fellow comedian Paddy McGuinness, as the pair lend their voices to a special episode of a pre-school cartoon.
