Bayern Munich’s Benjamin Pavard has claimed he is "defensively more complete" than Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold in a bold boast.

Pavard was speaking ahead of the Bundesliga giant’s Champions League group stage clash away at Benfica.

Liverpool are also in action in Europe this week, as they travel to Spain to take on Atletico Madrid.

Discussing his abilities at right-back, Pavard started to compare himself to Liverpool’s Alexander-Arnold and PSG’s Achraf Hakimi.

Pavard moved to Bayern in 2019 from fellow German club Stuttgart, a year after helping France win the World Cup.

The 25-year-old, when comparing himself to the Reds full-back, made some interesting claims while also seemingly referring to himself in the third person.

“Great coaches put me at right-back because they have confidence in my abilities,” Pavard is quoted telling Canalplus, via The Independent .

“It is not because of my beautiful eyes or my hair.

“On paper, Pavard is perhaps less sexy than Hakimi or Alexander-Arnold, but I think that defensively I am more complete.”
