A new Baby Yoda has become the fastest selling Star Wars toy.
Fans have gone into meltdown over a new figurine of The Child which features in the Disney + series The Mandalorian.
Toymakers Hasbro and Mattel have produced a plush and an animatronic editions of the character which is a kiddie version of Star War’s famous Jedi Master who speaks in a strange way by putting the start of his sentences at the end.
Fans have affectionately dubbed the character “Baby Yoda”.
And both are proving a sell-out already even though they won’t be available until later on this year.
Hasbro’s animatronic toy - which makes baby noises, flaps its ears and opens and closes both its eyes - is already on the verge of being sold out through pre-orders.
And Mattel say their plush edition is the “highest and fastest pre-sold product ever in their history”.
The Child is one of the key characters in The Mandalorian due to air in the UK on Disney + next month.
This is the first live action series in the Star Wars franchise and is set five years after the events of Return of the Jedi.
Other toys being produced include Baby Yoda bikes, Baby Yoda water bottles, Baby Yoda bobble heads and Baby Yoda baseball caps.
Paul Southern, who is senior vice president for licensing and franchise at Lucasfilm, said the hype and demand for The Child toys had been incredible.
He added. “It’s something that we’ve never seen before.”
