A key worker who helped out her family during lockdown by delivering their groceries has been described as ‘such a huge help’.
Karen McColl, 57, was nominated by her sister Rosina McLaughlin, 65, for our Say It with Flowers competition.
Rosina nominated Karen for all the extra effort and work she did for her family during the height of the pandemic, giving them extra care and attention
Rosina said: “She was working lots at her job in ASDA as she is a supervisor and was classed as a key worker.
“Despite being so busy she delivered essential needs to five of her 11 siblings who really needed it.
“She gave up a lot of her own time for her sisters, getting them shopping, a newspaper and such.
“She does this all out of the goodness of her heart. She never asks for anything back so I thought that a bouquet of flowers would be a nice gesture to show her we care.”
Karen is still an important figure in her family and is the youngest of 11 sisters.
She still takes groceries to some of her sisters who are still a bit scared to go out, and is praised by colleagues at ASDA at The Forge where she works.
“The staff in there love her, she adores her job and she is so brilliant at it.
“She has worked at ASDA for a good 15 years now and she treats everyone with respect and remains very professional at all times.
“She has been moved around stores a lot as she is able to help manage and make teams work well together.
“She is a true teamworker and everyone is really grateful for her.”
When Rosina contacted us to nominate Karen, we were only happy to oblige and provided her with this stunning bouquet, courtesy of our friends at Pixies Petals in Newmains.
The Wishaw Press has re-launched our Say it with Flowers competition.
