Asan N'Jie made a very controversial return to Emmerdale tonight- and it was unintentionally awkward.

The actor appeared on screen for the first time since he was sacked for threatening to stab and kill Hollyoaks star Jamie Lomas at the TV Choice awards.

Show bosses decided to give Asan his marching orders for his “unacceptable behaviour” - but confirmed that his character Ellis Chapman will stay on screen for another six weeks .

Asan's character was missing from both of Thursday night's episodes, prompting speculation from viewers that he was 'edited out' after Monday night's scandal.

However, Ellis returned to the Yorkshire village in Friday's episode, but it did not go very smoothly.

Ellis jumped out of a taxi after arriving home from a personal trainer course - revealing he was now fully qualified.

This was was pretty ironic considering Asan was last snapped getting into one while being escorted out by Emmerdale staff after getting sacked on Wednesday.

With Ellis back in the village, the writers set up his upcoming romance with Belle Dingle as the pair shared a flirty conversation.

However, it was suddenly interrupted when his dad Al and brother Billy both rushed over to pull him away for a private chat.

Ellis agreed to go off with his dad, who revealed that he had slept with mum Jessie despite the fact she's married to Marlon Dingle.

But the on-screen drama was nothing compared to the real-life controversy at the TV Choice Awards on Monday night.

Horrified guests watched on as Asan yelled: “I’m going to f**king kill you. I’m going to f**king knife you.”

Asan seen leaving the TV Choice Awards on Monday night

Emmerdale viewers took to twitter after watching Ellis return to the village - and some were disappointed to see his scenes.

On viewer said: "Ellis on tv..... tut tut Emmerdale... should of cut his scenes."

"Didn’t think they were showing Ellis scenes," added another.

A third said: "It will be a good bye committee soon for ellis"

Ellis went to speak to dad Al

Asan was slammed for his behaviour and was called in by Emmerdale bosses to explain his actions before bing given the sack.

In a statement, ITV said: “Emmerdale suspended Asan N’Jie yesterday pending further investigation into an incident at a central London hotel on Monday night.

“ITV executives have met with him this morning and as a consequence Asan’s contract has been terminated with immediate effect.”

Asan N'Jie has been sacked from the show

Soap bosses have confirmed that Ellis will be staying on screen for another six weeks as it would be “virtually impossible” to remove his character from the forthcoming storylines without cancelling episodes.

A show source told the Mirror: “Asan will still appear in the episodes he has recorded which will air for the next six weeks or so.

“There have been some meetings to decide what to do and this seems the most sensible option. We regularly have to rewrite scenes due to cast sickness and so it is not as unusual as it sounds to be suddenly re-writing storylines.

“By next week we will be filming scenes which will help write out Ellis and explain his absence from the show for good.”

Ellis could be heading off to Dubai

Asan's scenes will air as normal before the writers phase his character out of the show.

It is unknown how Ellis, who is set to have a romance with Belle Dingle in the coming weeks, will be written out of the soap.

It has been speculated that Ellis will jet off to Dubai with mum Jessie when she leaves the Dales.

Asan was all smiles as he arrived at the glitzy ceremony

Guilt-ridden Asan explained he wanted “to learn” from his actions after his controversial behaviour at the star-studded bash.

In a grovelling statement, he said: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.”

“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”
