Arsenal star Bukayo Saka talked Mikel Arteta into sealing £50m Ben White transfer after Euro 2020 training with England

ARSENAL star Bukayo Saka helped Mikel Arteta decide to sign Ben White this summer.

The Spaniard made White his top defensive target, after Sevilla ace Jules Kounde made it clear he wasn't interested in joining the Gunners.

Before sanctioning a move, however, Arteta sought out Saka's opinion on White after training with him on England duty at Euro 2020.

According to The Athletic, the winger's feedback was 'overwhelmingly positive'.

So the Gunners decided to press ahead with a deal.

Their initial offer was worth around £42million, but was quickly knocked back by Brighton.

Seagulls chiefs Paul Barber and Dan Ashworth were determined to hold out for their asking price: £50m.

And White's place in Gareth Southgate's Euro 2020 squad only helped their bargaining position.

The Gunners would have another FOUR bids rejected by Brighton.

But they finally relented and paid the £50m.

White, 23, was officially unveiled by Arsenal last Friday.

And he made his first appearance at Emirates Stadium as a substitute today against Chelsea.

Arteta's men may have lost 2-1 to the Blues - but White managed to make a positive impression.

The former Leeds ace somehow managed to get back and prevent Hakim Ziyech from scoring, despite the Moroccan having beaten goalkeeper Bernd Leno.
