ARSENAL have reportedly reached an agreement with William Saliba over a deal to bring the Saint-Etienne centre-back to the Emirates on a five-year deal.
SunSport recently revealed how the Gunners were fearful that Manchester City were about to pinch the 18-year-old from under their nose.
But according to Foot Mercato, the North London side have stepped up their interest in the teenager, and have agreed terms with the player.
They state that all Arsenal need to do now is agree a fee with the Ligue 1 side, but they know that the defender has no shortage of admirers.
It is believed that any potential suitor of Saliba will have to fork out around £25million to snare him away from Stade Geoffroy-Guichard.
Saliba has been identified as a potential replacement for Laurent Koscielny, with the 33-year-old a reported target for Borussia Dortmund.
Saint-Etienne are willing to sell him if they can have the French youth international on loan for next season, but Arsenal are understood to not be keen on the proposal.
City and rivals Manchester United are claimed to be admirers of Saliba, along with Borussia Monchengladbach and clubs from Serie A.
Saliba's agent recently fuelled speculation that his client was set for a move to a Manchester side after sharing a picture of himself in the city.
It was a breakthrough season for the talented youngster last campaign, as he featured in 19 games in all competitions.
Unai Emery is desperate to bolster his backline this summer, with Sampdoria ace Joachim Andersen also heavily linked with a move to Arsenal.
