Arsenal captain Aubameyang ‘atrocious’ and Willian a ‘nightmare’, says club icon Merson who predicts Tottenham derby win

ARSENAL legend Paul Merson has laid into 'atrocious' Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Willian ahead of the north London derby.

The Gunners striker has scored just twice this season, including none at the Emirates, after signing a lucrative three-year contract in September.

His team-mate Willian, a free transfer from Chelsea, has also massively underperformed as Arsenal languish in 14th.

And Merson fears Sunday's clash with Tottenham will only go one way.

In his column with the Daily Star, he said: "I don’t see how my old club can beat Tottenham this weekend.

"They are too predictable and getting nothing from their stars.

"Willian has not got going at all, and is having a real nightmare. And Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been atrocious.

"What does he bring to the party? Absolutely nothing at the moment.

"You need big performances from your big players when things aren’t going well. Arsenal aren’t getting that. That’s a dangerous thing.

"Has Aubameyang relaxed too much after signing his contract? Only he can answer that. But he’s not earning his money."

Aubameyang scored 22 league goals in each of his last two seasons but looks a shadow of his former self.

Mikel Arteta's side host the league leaders without a win in their last three Premier League matches.

The Spaniard will be sweating on the fitness of Thomas Partey who is recovering from a thigh injury.
