James Argent says he is feeling healthier after dropping five stone after seeking rehab for his addiction to cocaine.
The 32-year-old former The Only Way Is Essex star opened up about his struggles with drugs, food, and weight after revealing he has been addicted to cocaine for seven years.
Arg has opened up about entering a “never-ending tale of destruction” when he would spend hours high on drugs, not eating, only to then binge on fast food and takeaways the next morning.
Having sought help, the reality star says a benefit of getting clean has been seeing a drop in his weight, and explains body confidence and positivity has become a part of his recovery.
Speaking to The Sun, he said: “I’ve actually lost five stone. I was 23 and a half stone before rehab, and I’d like to get another three stone off.
“I feel so much better in myself.”
Arg argued that his drug addiction had been ignited by his eating disorder – explaining he would binge on food because he didn’t like his appearance, and would then shun food in favour of drugs.
He explained: “I’d feel down so I’d start using drugs at 9pm until 6am, not eating a thing.
“Then I’d wake up, feel low and be absolutely starving and I would binge on everything from fizzy drinks, burgers, fast food, crisps, snacks, pizzas, takeaways to the point where I couldn’t possibly eat any more to feel better.
“Then I’d look in the mirror, see I’m the biggest I’ve ever been, then think, ‘When is a suitable time for a dealer to drop me off’. It was a never-ending tale of destruction.”
Arg stunned fans when he opened up about his troubles – revealing on Sunday he had been addicted to cocaine for seven years.
The reality star said he received his wake-up call to change his ways last year when he was hospitalised following a near death overdose.
He has credited girlfriend Gemma Collins with helping him seek treatment and confront this demons.
Arg added he now hopes to wed his on-off girlfriend and start a family together.
