Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly said they begged producers to delay the first I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! 2020 eviction by a week.
The Geordie duo made the revelation during the exit interview of the first evicted contestant, paralympic javelin champion Hollie Arnold.
The pair were chatting to a clearly emotional Hollie about how sad she was to leave everybody behind and that she had made genuine friendships in the camp.
Dec then revealed to Hollie: "I have to say, we watched you at dinner last night, and we said to everybody 'Can't we keep them all together for another week, because they're so lovely?'"
Ant added: "It's been so lovely watching you all, it was lovely to see you all getting on so well."
Hollie then said that she would watch back all of the scenes that viewers at home saw.
She said: "I hope that our friendships and our love is genuine and that you see that."
Ant responded: "Oh yeah, it comes across lots. It really did."
Hollie then recounted all of the things she would miss about waking up in camp - even that "hard, horrible bed".
Speaking of being the first to be evicted from the series, Hollie said she was disappointed.
Hollie said: "I am devastated, but one of us has to go, right? You have to be prepared, but honestly that was just the best experience I've ever had, I didn't want to leave."
Ant and Dec commented that they wanted to give her a hug as she clearly welled up.
She added: "I never really knew what to expect, so I just wanted to go in there and enjoy every single moment of it, it's a crazy opportunity for me, and to meet those 11 amazing people, I can't thank them enough."
With Hollie eliminated from the competition, who remaining will be crowned King or Queen of the Castle?
I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! continues with its weekly recap show Saturday night on ITV.
