The inevitable has happened. Jackson Hastings is leaving Super League.
After almost three years of speculation and rumour, it has been confirmed that Hastings will leave Wigan Warriors at the end of the season to link up with NRL side Wests Tigers.
His future has been a source of speculation ever since stepping off the plan in the UK. As such, confirmation of his departure doesn't come as much of a surprise.
That was evident on social media as fans sent their well wishes to Hastings following the news.
However, for some, the bigger issue was who the club should sign to replace him, and there was one man of the fans' lips.
Williams is currently in the NRL with Canberra Raiders after joining the club from Wigan in 2020.
He will still be contracted to the Green Machine next year, but that hasn't put fans off calling for the club to get the deal done.
Wigan do, of course, have a number of options at their disposal already, including Harry Smith, who has just signed a new deal.
It will be interesting to see what the Warriors do next, and fans will no doubt be keeping a close eye on their recruitment heading into 2022.
