The Chase presenter Bradley Walsh was left far from impressed after a team of contestants made history on the ITV show for all the wrong reasons, with annoyed viewers at home branding them 'pathetic cowards'
The hit quiz programme was out on pause last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and subsequent lockdown, and, after a string of repeats were shown to make sure die hard fans were still getting their Chase fix every night, has been airing new episodes in recent months.
And the most recent one saw host Bradley almost left in a state of disbelief as a whole team of contestants opted to go for the lowest offer possible when confronted by a head-to-head with The Chaser.
On Thursday's show the team of 4 came up against the formidable quiz force of The Beast, real name Mark Labbett.
First into the firing line was Rory and his decision to play for just £1,000 set the tone for what was to come as fellow hopefuls Anne, Keziah and Richie all did the same, even though The Beast tried to tempt Richie to go high with an offer of a whopping £73,000!
Knowing that Richie's decision would get everyone talking, The Beast told him: "Richie either way, whatever you do next will make television history."
And, reacting to Richie's 'cop out' as he said: "I'd rather be a coward with £1,000," the Chaser then added: "That's the first time that it's ever happened anywhere in the world, every team member going low, you'll be YouTube sensations."

Both Bradley and Chase viewers at home were disgusted by the team's actions. Working out their tactics, Bradley said: ""I don't think this team is here to win money, I think they just want to beat The Beast."
However, if that was the tactic they had in mind, it didn't pay off as they didn't triumph against him in the Final Chase.
Viewers did not hold back on their opinions. One ranted: "What a bunch of LOSERS, GUTLESS COWARDS. IF they don't want to play the game then why the hell go on the show. That's why they call it the CHASE. I'M GLAD THEY LOST AT THE END"
Echoing those sentiments, another tweeted: "this episode of the chase is gonna go down in history as the most hated yeno like oh my god i despise every one of these coward wetwipes" and a third reacted: "Well, thats a 1st, 4 low offer w***ers in a row. Dont know if i really blame the last guy though, why would you want to go high and share anything with the rest of the cowards. Absolutely pathetic episode today"
