Manchester United midfielder Andreas Pereira is closing in on a move to Lazio, according to reports.

Although things could still change in the week remaining of the transfer window it has, so far, been a disappointing summer for United, with Donny van de Beek the only new arrival.

It appears that the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic has limited United's ability to spend big money and unable as yet to sign top targets, such as Jadon Sancho.

Yet funds could be raised for new players before the October 5 deadline if some members of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's squad can be moved on and, according to Italian publication Il Messaggero, Pereira could be the next to leave Old Trafford.

The Brazilian has seen himself pushed further down the midfield pecking order following the signing of Van de Beek and he hasn't even appeared on the bench for the club this season.

It's reported that Pereira is 'one step away' from joining Serie A side Lazio, initially on loan but the Rome club will have an obligation to buy him next season. It's said that United will seek around €10million from the deal.

Elsewhere, United have joined the race for Argentine wonderkid Alex Luna, according to The Mirror.

Luna plays for Atletico Rafaela and bagged an impressive 16 goals in 2020 before the COVID-19 pandemic brought the season to a premature close.

It's suggested that United are ready to battle AC Milan for the 16-year-old’s signature and have already made contact, even though he may not arrive until he turns 18 in 2022.
