An alcoholic who assaulted an Asda staff member was more than twice the drink-drive limit, a court has heard.
Lee Betteridge, of The Moor, Walmley, Sutton Coldfield, admitted two charges of drink-driving, assaulting a member of staff and leaving a petrol forecourt without paying for fuel.
He appeared at Cannock Magistrates' Court to admitted driving an Audi TT in Newport Road, Stafford, on February 25, with 118 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He also admitted assaulting a member of staff at Asda, in Stafford, leaving without paying £30 for fuel at Texaco, Stafford and stealing alcohol worth £15.47 from Asda, Stafford, all on February 25.
Betteridge also admitted driving an Audi TT in Oxford Garden, Stafford, on March 2, with 231 milligrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrammes.
He also admitted failing to attend court on May 20.
The 48-year-old has been given a 18-week prison sentence which was suspended for 24 months due to his a high reading and that he had committed second criminal offence in a short period while on bail. Magistrates said what he did was a danger to the public. He must undertake an alcohol treatment requirement to treat his alcohol dependency, they said.
He has been ordered to pay £270 court costs and a £238 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 36 months.

He has been fined £450 court costs, ordered to pay £600 court costs and a £45 victim surcharge.
His licence has been endorsed with nine points.
Rebecca Chadwick , 20, of Welshpool Road, Derby, admitted failing to provide a specimen of breath in Burton on July 18.
She has been fined £300 court costs, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge. She has been banned from driving for 12 months.
Bogdan Dinca , 39, of Queen Street, Burton, admitted driving a Kia Ceed in Barton Turns, Barton under Needwood, on August 18, with 57 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
He has been fined £400 court costs, ordered to pay £85 court costs and a £40 victim surcharge. He has been banned from driving for 12 months.
Simon Leggat, 23, of Windsor Way, Rushall, Walsall, admitted damaging a Nissan Qashqai and also destroyed items inside a property in Cannock to the value of £500 belonging to a woman, on November 9.
He has been fined £40 court costs, ordered to pay £135 court costs and a £34 victim surcharge.
