A Brit air hostess, 23, jailed in a hellhole Dubai jail after her boyfriend was caught with a joint, is living off bread and water, her family claim.

Derrin Crawford, from Liverpool, was arrested  last week after cops found cannabis in her date’s flat – even though she later tested negative for the drug.

It is not known whether the man Derrin, an Emirates flight attendant, was caught with has been charged.

She is believed to have fallen ill in her cell at the notorious Al Barsha jail.

And Liverpool Riverside MP Kim Johnson claims her family had been denied contact with her since Sunday.

Ms Johnson told the BBC: "They have not been allowed to take in toiletries and food. According to family members she is existing on water, bread and jam."

Her family are "terrified about how she is doing and are in "absolute pieces", according to one of her pals.

They told The Sun: “It is now nearly a week since anyone spoke to her.

"The last time we did she was sobbing saying they kept saying she should 'admit it'.

"We don’t even think she’s been able to speak to a lawyer who speaks English. Everyone just wants her out of there - and home.”

London-based charity Detained in Dubai – who help foreigners locked up in the hardline Arab state – is also working on Derrin’s case.

The group's CEO Radha Stirling said: “Derrin Crawford’s family are extremely concerned for her health.

“Derrin suffers from tonsillitis which can cause her airways to close. Derrin’s condition can escalate to septic (life-threatening) if left.

“Please arrange medical urgently. Derrin visited an apartment, and was arrested and detained for something she had no control over.

“Human rights violations are thoroughly documented in Dubai. We are concerned about Derrin’s safety.

Derrins family claim she has fallen ill in jail

Derrin’s sister Danielle, 28, revealed her sister had been living in Dubai since securing a dream job with Emirates.

She told The Sun her sister was “innocent” and caught in the “wrong place at the wrong time”.

She added the police have been trying to "interrogate her", but she doesn’t even "know this guy".

Derrin was told she would be released if she passed a drug test but despite testing negative on Friday, she is still being detained.

It is believed Derrin had only met the man she was arrested for the first time that night.
