Remember the 2019 Stockport frogs? They're back as Stockport’s Business Improvement District, Totally Stockport, has launched the Gigantic Leap Frog Art Trail of 2021.
21 brand new, gigantic, colourful frogs have hopped into the town centre. And not only that, 17 of their One Stockport frog buddies are leaping into locations across the whole borough.
The new 2021 Gigantic Leap Frog Art Trail was recently launched at an event hosted by Totally Stockport at the Light Cinema. Artists and sponsors were joined by the Mayor of Stockport, Cllr Adrian Nottingham, and invited guests before having a chance to visit all 21 frogs on the trail.
This summer, explore the trail and discover all 21 huge, colourful frogs and their froglets. You can also enter the competition for a chance to win your very own 'frog on a rock'.
Maps and guides can be picked up from Merseyway (next to Waterstones); from the One Stockport Hub in Mersey Square; and from town centre shops and businesses - or download your map here.
Supporting the art trail are sponsors Amstone, Carecall, Floreeda, Girlguiding Stockport, Holiday Inn Express, Marketing Stockport, Merseyway, musicMagpie, Nexperia, Orbit Developments, Robinsons Brewery, Simon Charles Auctioneers, St Ann’s Hospice, Stockport County, Totally Stockport and the Vernon Building Society.
All 21 frogs on the trail will stay in the town centre until September 26, 2021, before hopping off to auction in October.
All proceeds of the auction are being donated to St Ann’s Hospice which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. The proceeds of the 2019 frog auction were donated to Tree House, the children’s department at Stepping Hill Hospital.
Stockport BID manager Paul Taylor is delighted the frogs are once again back in Stockport town centre, commenting: "To say everyone has been through a difficult time is an understatement. Now it’s time to get back into our town centre and what better way to celebrate than with another brilliant trail that’s even bigger and better than before.
"The artists have done a fantastic job. And, just like last time, organisations have got involved by sponsoring a frog and planning frog-related activities throughout the summer."
