For an amazing afternoon of horse racing, visit Newcastle Racecourse on Saturday, February 22 for the first feature fixture of the year, the Vertem Eider Chase Day.

At the High Gosforth Park venue, the day will feature great jump racing and entertainment, including the historic Eider Handicap Chase, a trial for the most famous jumps race of them all, the Grand National. Eider heroes often go on to run in the big race at Aintree, and the most recent winner of both was Comply Or Die in the 2008 renewals.

The Six Nations rugby will be live on selected screens across the enclosures for all race-goers to enjoy alongside the competitive afternoon jumps card.

The event is the first feature fixture of 2020 at High Gosforth Park

The gates will open at 12 noon, with the first race off at 1.35pm and the last race off at 5pm. The Eider Chase will be run at 2.45pm.

Live music will also follow the racing in the on-site Border Minstrel Pub.

Tickets are available from £17 per adult in advance, and under 18s are admitted free! The popular Raceday Essentials Package is also available in advance, including admission, a raceday programme, food voucher, and drink voucher.

Parking at the venue is free, and if you’re travelling by public transport, then head to Regent Centre or Four Lane Ends Metro Station to use the free shuttle bus service that runs from 90 minutes before the first race up until the first race time.

There is no dress code for grandstand ticket holders or children, and the dress code for premier and hospitality guests is smart casual.
