Hamilton boss Brian Rice says luck can't always go against his side, and wants them to maintain their performance against Dundee United.

Rice felt his side did everything except score against Micky Mellon's side, as Marc McNulty's sixth-minute strike was enough to take the points back to Tayside.

Hamilton welcome Motherwell for the fourth Lanarkshire derby of the season on Wednesday, April 21, and Rice hopes for better fortunes in that clash.

And he told his players to keep doing the right things and it will turn.

He said: "I couldn't ask for any more.

"It has to happen, but I'm a great believer that if you keep doing the right things then it will change. If you keep doing the right things, keep believing and keep listening, then it all comes down to hard work, so keep working hard.

"The wind can't always be in your face, my dad says, so we're hoping it turns around.

"We're here to fight, you saw a team out there giving it everything they've got, with the bodies we have available, and you can't ask any more of those boys.

"Putting in performances like that and taking our chances will give us a really good chance.

"The only thing that was missing was a goal, because we did everything except score, I believe.

"We put the ball into good areas, there were efforts at goal - sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't, but I couldn't be any more proud of them than I am today.

"We've won a couple of games where I've been OK with it, but I thought today was the best we've played all season and I'm hoping we can carry that on into the derby match."
