Ronan Hughes says there's no better game for Hamilton to get over their heartbreak against Dundee United than in a derby against Motherwell.

Accies host their Lanarkshire rivals on Wednesday, April 21, having already beat them in all three clashes this season.

Hughes says although Accies lost 1-0 to Dundee United and remain bottom of the Premiership, he's confident that they're showing form that will see them fight their way out of trouble.

And he says they've been over the course enough times to know what is required.

Hughes said: "I think we're all disappointed - we had enough chances to win the game and we just need to try and move on as quickly as we can, and look to Motherwell.

"There's no better game to bounce back in, I would say, than a derby.

"I think in the past couple of times we've had the better of Motherwell, and hopefully we can do it once again.

"Against Dundee United I think we did everything but score, but I think we need to take at least one or two of them.

"I think we need a wee rub of the green, a wee bit of luck.

"But we've been here before, we know what it takes, and I'm pretty confident that we'll get out of it.

"All that is missing is goals - I think the performances are there and everybody can see that, but we just need to put some away at the end of the day.

"I would imagine any team after losing will be gutted, but at the same time we have to try and pick ourselves up.

"We'll be in next week and will get ready for Motherwell."
