Traffic is blocked heading into Manchester city centre as a result of the A62 Oldham Road in Newton Heath being closed in both directions because of a "police-led" incident.
Transport for Greater Manchester says traffic is being diverted via Thorp Road.
It added that local bus services may be affected. Travellers are being encouraged to check with local operators before embarking on their journeys.
In an update at 12.24am, traffic monitoring service Inrix said the closure is the result of an accident on the B6393 Thorp Road.
It said: "A62 Oldham Road in both directions blocked, slow traffic due to accident at B6393 Thorp Road."
A tweet from Transport for Greater Manchester at 12.15am said: "Traffic blocked towards the city due to a police-led incident. Divert via Thorp Road
"Local bus services may be affected, check with operator before travelling."
