The A473 is closed at Llantwit Fadre after a serious collision.

South Wales Police are in attendance, with the road shut between the Cross Inn and Beddau. Junction 32-33 westbound is also closed, with the closure expected to last for some time.

Police have advised motorists to avoid the area.

South Wales Police said on Twitter at 12.40am on Thursday: “We are at the scene of a serious collision on the A473, LLANTWIT FARDRE.

“The road is closed between The Cross Inn and Beddau.

“Junction 32 - 33 Westbound is closed. It is expected to remain closed for some time.

“Motorists are advised to avoid the area.”

An update from traffic monitoring service Inrix at 1.26am said: "A473 in both directions closed due to accident from Rhiwsaeson Road ( Llantrisant ) to B4595 Llantrisant Road ( Beddau )."

The A473 runs from Bridgend to Pontypridd and junction 35 connects to the M4.
