Previously unseen People's War images show how the city of Newcastle and the North East as a whole were affected by World War II
A series of unseen images shed new light on how the North East was affected by World War II.
The pictures reflect the impact of the conflict on Newcastle and the surrounding area, showing both ordinary people at work and some of the key figures from the war effort on visits to our region.
The brilliant photographs, unseen for decades, show how Tyneside came through our darkest hours and how life was affected on the Home Front.
The pictures form part of a collectable partwork series published by the Daily Express over the next four days.
They include images showing home life in World War 2, the dark days of the Blitz and how key moments were marked on the road to peace.
The first part will be in newsagents tomorrow, Friday, October 30. More details about the series are available here.
