Man, 48, facing charges after stabbing in Etobicoke park

A man arrested Saturday is facing several charges following a stabbing in Etobicoke.

Toronto Police say, on Friday at about 10 p.m., officers responded to a call for a stabbing in the Park Lawn Rd. and Bayside Ln. area.

Police say the suspect and a victim were in a park when they became involved in a verbal altercation, which quickly turned physical.

Cops allege the suspect pulled out an edged weapon and stabbed the victim several times. The suspect fled the scene on foot.

The victim was transported to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Byron Alvarez, 48 years, was arrested Saturday and charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and breach of a probation order.
