Here are a few of my favourite combinations that I hope inspire you to step out of your comfort zone:

Nude

statement lip

There are some colours like nude that will always be a staple for fall. While flesh-toned lips may be subtle, they can definitely add oomph to your pout; be it matte or glossy. Even a simple clear and ultra-glossy lip can make a statement. We must never underestimate the power of a shiny lip to elevate any look.

Red

lip statement

Red lipstick is sophisticated yet wearable for every day. While a matte, full coverage red lip is my favourite way to wear this look, lining the lips with deep Merlot lip pencils is also the rage. To interpret the look in another way, simply dab your favourite red on with your finger to create a lip stain. All are classic and beautiful.

Eggplant

Dark purple lips are vampy, moody and edgy. Luscious aubergine lips are a great alternative to red and offers its own elegant sophistication.

Chocolate

Chocolate lipsticks are having a major moment this season and are a reincarnated look made popular in the 1980s and 1990s. While it has a strong punk and grunge influence, dark lip shades are also deeply rooted and influenced from the silent movie era of the 1920s. If you’re really looking to step out and make a statement, opt for obscure shades like blue, green and grey.
