Leaders, activists gather for BNP rally in Aminbazar

A large number of BNP leaders and activists started pouring into Aminbazar area on the outskirts of the capital since around 11:00am today, three hours before the scheduled start of a rally.

Hundreds of party leaders, activists and supporters were seen at the rally venue at Mirpur Mofid-E-Am College ground around noon. Wearing colourful caps, they were carrying placards, and posters, and chanting anti-government slogans, reports our Savar correspondent.

Party activists from different areas, including Keraniganj, Savar, and Ashulia, reached the rally venue in processions.

Some senior leaders of Dhaka District BNP have already arrived at the rally venue, which is being organised by them with a one-point demand of the government's resignation and to hold the national elections under a non-partisan government.

Two members of the BNP standing committee are expected to be present at the rally, according to sources.

A large numbers of police personnel have been deployed near the entries to the rally venue.
