Body of village doctor found hanging from bridge in Chuadanga

Police recovered the body of a village doctor, found hanging from the railing of a bridge in Chuadanga's Alamdanga today.

The victim is Touhidul Islam, 40, of Dumbalpur village. He worked as a village doctor, reports our Chuadanga correspondent quoting police.

On information, police recovered the body around 12:00pm and sent it to Chuadanga Sadar Hospital for autopsy, said Biplab Kumar Nath, officer-in-charge of Alamdanga Police Station.

Locals found the body hanging from the bridge's railing and informed police, he said.

Police and locals said Touhidul was last seen at a tea stall in the village around midnight yesterday.

Since he didn't return home later that night, family members conducted a search for him. Later, locals informed police after finding the body hanging from the railing of a bridge on Dumbalpur-Madhavpur road.

His motorcycle, cap, and shoes were recovered from near the spot, the OC said.

Police suspect that criminals killed him and hung him from the railing of the bridge with a towel wrapped around his mouth. He may have been killed due to prior enmity, Biplab Kumar Nath added.

The victim's family and local residents have demanded swift justice for the victim.
