Trust in a free-scoring repeat when Manchester City head to Tottenham.
A few weeks back Spurs shared six goals at the Etihad – though in much the same way that you might ‘share’ your sandwich with a hangry baboon.
The visitors made the basic blunder of prodding the creature by scoring a couple of goals just before half-time, and City went bananas.
What can have changed since then?
Tottenham’s record against the Big Six plus Newcastle is a miserable W0 D1 L6, and they’ve conceded at least two goals every time.
But they’ve scored a few as well, and Spurs fans can reasonably hope to see their side catch City flat-footed on the counter (4.30pm). New Spurs right-back Pedro Porro could have a rude awakening against Jack Grealish and Co. If he starts, 7/2 (888sport) that Porro ‘gets a card’ is huge based on his recent numbers in Portugal.
Leeds made some shrewd moves during the transfer window. Bringing on Rodrigo when they were 3-0 up at Accrington Stanley in the FA Cup wasn’t one of them.
Their star turn is now crocked and will be missed at Nottingham Forest (2pm).
It was a brighter idea to keep Jack Harrison who looks to be on an upswing, and is a long-range threat to a Forest weak spot. Try 35/1 (Paddy) he ‘scores from outside the box’ if he starts.
Even if Big Bad Erling Haaland didn’t kick another ball, just sat with his giant feet up, eating cow pie, he’s already done enough to win the Golden Boot most seasons. Going into this weekend he was 1/50.
Slightly more Boot meat with Harry Kane ‘to win it without Haaland’ – 2/7 (Hills) – but the punt that comes with proper gravy is ‘Kane’s club after summer transfer window’… and the 16/1 (Skybet) that it’s Real Madrid.
Over in Italy, Inter ace Lautaro Martinez is flying, and great value at 9/4 (Unibet) ‘anytime scorer’ for the Milan Derby (7.45pm, Serie A)
