That's why we were so intrigued by news of a Christmas gift set from cult classic hair care brand Philip Kingsley, launching in October.

We have included his proven IndyBest favorite, the Philip Kingsley Elastic Riser, in the Gamechangers section. The Best Anti-Dandruff Shampoo GuideSo when you find out that this year's Christmas collection includes both full-size products and stocking fillers, and every set includes a stretcher, It felt right to investigate.

It's also worth knowing that a product containing 2 out of 3 boxes will save you £33.

Philip Kingsley was a pioneer in hair care and first coined the famous term "good hair day". on sale.

TEST METHOD

Philip Kingsley's All Three Christmas Gifts for Him Sets were reviewed in a few weeks of testing, and featured products were selected for his daily hair care. I incorporated it into my routine. Our testers looked at the packaging, the hair care results achieved, the formula of the product, and the value for money. Read on for the full tried and tested take.

Philip Kingsley's Fine Body and Volume Collection: £49.50,Philipkingsley. co. uk – Available from 1st October

Comes in a bright yellow box. The front of this gift set features a fun festive design in the shape of a wreath containing mistletoe and candy canes. As a comb, crown and hairbrush. When I opened the box, I used the integrated pink ribbon to pull out the tray inside. I quickly realized how recyclable this gift box is. Apart from the removable ribbon, it is 100% cardboard.

Surprising eco-certification aside, we found four goodies included. 3 of them are full size. These are a 250ml bottle of Body Building Shampoo (£21.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk) and a 200ml bottle of Body Building Conditioner (£21.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk), and Maximizer. Strand Plumping Cream (£22.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk) in a 75ml tube. And finally, the 75ml Mini Elasticizer Deep Conditioning Treatment (£17.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk) is a very welcome addition.

Normally, all four of these products would cost him £83 if purchased separately. So whether you're buying a set for a loved one or yourself, you'll feel great value for your money with a price tag of just £50.

Our testers have fine hair, and for us, the bodybuilding range is a firm favorite that keeps us coming back again and again. The body building shampoo's lightweight formula lathers easily and you'll see your locks lift after use.

Body building conditioners, on the other hand, are smoothing conditioners that hydrate but do not leave your hair flat or supple. Given the hair type described, our testers say this is a classic go-to shampoo and conditioner duo for a satisfyingly clean scalp and noticeably voluminous strands.

After washing my hair, I applied Maximizer Strand Plumping Cream to damp, towel-dried hair before blow-drying. It's designed to make fine hair look thicker, and I was impressed with how much more volume my hair had after styling. Obviously, you can't have a product that instantly transforms thin strands into thick strands, but I would say this is good for making them look a little softer.

Finally, to our old friends, stretchers. The first ever pre-shampoo treatment, what's great about this product is that you can rub it into wet hair before showering. Created to deeply condition your strands and make them less prone to breakage, give it a quick 10 minute treatment or leave it on overnight. The secret is to wrap your hair in a towel.

Then wash and style your hair as normal. Our testers' hair can be dry and brittle due to thyroid conditions. So, after a while of inactivity, the hair becomes dry and brittle again.

All in all, this is a set we'd be happy to receive, and in fact you might be tempted to treat this as a Christmas 'surprise'.

Larger products included are Moisture Balancing Shampoo (£21.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk) and Moisture Balancing Conditioner (£21.50,Philipkingsley .co.uk {120). } ) – also available in 250ml and 200ml size bottles respectively – Finishing Polishing Serum in 75ml Tubes (£22.50,Philipkingsley.co.uk). Body Like Bill Duo, with the Moisture Balancing Shampoo and Conditioner, testers saw a satisfying lather, their scalps were pleasantly cleansed, and their hair looked hydrated. Also, he noticed extra shine and softness after using both products. The shampoo and conditioner he Philip Kingsley can also be used in combination with other options, but this combination works best for dry, textured, medium or long hair types.

Same 33. £50 price cut and elastic risers included, plus the finishing touch polishing serum. If you have no idea what this product is or what it does, it's basically a tube of clear gel that you use on dry, styled hair.

Our tester's "do" had obvious flyaway strands, and some product smoothing them out could add unwanted suppleness. But we found that a little bit of this serum not only smoothed out frizz and tamed those little hairs, but also added a gentle shine. Plus, since a small amount is needed to see results (I was careful not to strain the strands too much), this tube should last for years.

Philip Kingsley Small Gemstone Stocking Fillers: £10,Philipkingsley . co.UK – Available from 1st October

(Philip Kingsley)

This cute little box contains: It contains a 40ml tube of the original Elastic Deep Conditioning Treatment and a 20ml tube of the recently launched Elastic Booster Restoring Conditioner. Both are a great travel size, ideal for a little hair care TLC while traveling for Christmas, and also offer a way to try out the elasticiser range before buying the full size version. And I think it looks attractive just neatly placed on the Christmas tree or wrapped in someone's stocking as a surprise.

The Elasticizer Booster Restore Conditioner, as the name suggests, is applied after shampooing. Ingredients include chia seeds and olive fruit oil to help strengthen hair, and we found it to be a nutrient-rich formula. It's basically like a concentrated version of your standard conditioner in that it's thicker in texture and doubles as a hair mask.

When our strands felt the dryest, we replaced our regular conditioner with this. However, if your hair tends to feel a little flat, we recommend using it sparingly.

Flyaway frizz seemed to improve after using it, but I do enjoy having strong hair conditioner options instead. As a $10 Christmas present, this is an affordable luxury yet practical product.

Available October 1st

Verdict: Philip Kingsley's Glorious Christmas Gift Collection
